The First Print Biennale at National Gallery of Modern Art
As a part of First Print Biennale India being organised by the Lalit Kala Akademi, the National Academy of Art, a parellel exhibition titled ‘Eminent Print Makers of India’, showcased at the National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi. This show was a part of the International Printmaking Bienalle being hosted by the Lalit Kala Akademi. The exhibits on view consist of works of the living masters of Indian printmaking such as Jyoti Bhatt, Sanat Kar, Devraj Dakoji, P.D.Dhumal, Vijay Kumar, R.M.Palaniappan, Dhruv Mistry, Kavita Nayar, Krishan Ahuja, Yusuf, Lalu Prasad Shaw, Walter D’Souza and many more. There is also a must-see segment featuring the Pioneers of Printmaking which is nostalgic and reflective of the golden era of this practice. It is regarded as the major attraction of this show. The exhibition also provides visitors from India and abroad with a rare privilege to see first-hand, original works that are historic game changers of Indian art. The selected works are in a remarkably well preserved condition as also representative of the prime years of their art makers’ practices. The exhibition has thus lived up to its global character by these significant inputs.
