The Blue City of Jodhpur

Food reviews and cafes

-Step well - Part of the Raas Hotel but separate from the main hotel entrance. Next to the baoli and has a terrace too. More cafe like and has a semi formal ambience.serves mainly pastas and pizzas. I liked the food better than the food at Raas hotel. Can be recommended for coffee too.

Chokelao bagh- this has two restaurants. One which is fine dining and only serves dinner. One which is next to a garden and serves buffet lunch. I tried the lunch and the food was authentic Rajasthani. Home cooked taste and live tandoor. Our server was super sweet and educated us about the food and tradition. The garden had pomegranate, guavas and custard apples. It was a delight to sit next to this garden.

I recommend drinks on the terrace of Raas hotel restaurant. It overlooks the Mehrangarh fort. I was not super impressed by the food or service. But one can definitely at least one meal here if isn't staying here already. 'Lal Maas' is a speciality on the menu which was pretty decent.

Sheesh Mahal- right next to Pal haveli. I recommend for coffee and sandwiches. Since there aren't many places that do a decent espresso, this is a good one. The cafe gets a lot of natural light and it has a few couches next to glass windows. Its very close to the clock tower.

Mishralal - LOVED it! The lassi, mirchi vada and kachori were all great and are a must try.

Via Jodhpur- right opposite Raas. Perfect for Kamalan client. Sells kidswear, shawls, jewellery, bags and stationary. They also have a design studio. Owners name is Cathy.

M.R Juti- very cute small shop. Local artisan not a boutique. Can custom make within 24 hours.

Laxman -art- restores Vintage photos and paints and does 3D work on top. Very different from what I say in the rest of the city.

Shri Manglam- delight for a textile lover. Does bags, potlis and pouches. Not expensive.

Om Ganesh export house. two floor shop for just vintage and antique finds. very specialized. If someone likes to collect or wants to shop for home, could spend hours.

Walk from Raas till Mehrangarh fort has turban, bangle and bandini shops on both sides.I recommend it as it's via the blue city.
