“Looking at objects from my family
archives of 50 years”
In the year of 1968, when my dad was born, his maternal uncle gifted my grand mother a tea set on the occasion of birth of her eldest son. Even though the gift was not for the newly born, my dad fondly tells us about how back in the day personal gifts were rare and objects that could be household assets like this silver tea set were common. Charming at 50.
Dad fondly recalls the adventurous spirit of my grand father and his love to collect objects ( i know where i get it from). This is a Binocular from the 70s.
My grandmother was very fond of dressing up. She would wear makeup everyday, make a high bun just like Bollywood actresses and out of her many many fashionable items I got this one bag with a gold buckle that she would carry on special occasions.
This carved wooden walking stick from the 1980s was used by my grandfather for his evening walks.
Our everyday keys would be kept in this with some coins. This was placed in our old house just above the television.
.He had always wanted a watch. And for many years this was his dearest possession that he only got in his early 20s and also wore it for his wedding day.
Black and white photos of my dad's time in Bathinda, Punjab. Just a way to keep the 70s and 80s alive.
When Punjabi University awarded my dad a degree. Not to miss is the calligraphy and letters in Gurmukhi.
